Can you I beat dyslexia

In my experience you can, if you learn to live with it.

HOW? it's simple, use strategies. Carry a spell check or a calculator around in your pocket, or anything you may think will help you.

If you have been educated at School, College or University then you would have found that some good educational facilities will let you use spell checks, calculators and dictation software even in an exam situation.

Please have a look around.

Hopefully we can help with any questions you may have.

What is Dyslexia?

Dyslexia is a specific learning disability, sometimes called "word blindness". This is misleading, however, as someone with dyslexia can see perfectly well, but they will have continuous problems with literacy skills, word interpretation and perception, reading, writing, spelling, and very often they will also have difficulties with maths.
Dyslexia is said to affect approximately one out of every 10 pupils in the UK, from all walks of life, and with all levels of intellectual ability. It generally affects boys to a greater degree of severity than girls. It tends to run in families, and recently a gene has been identified which scientists believe may be responsible for dyslexia. For some 60% of people with dyslexia, the sounds which go to make up words are also a problem and many children will find the skills required for basic maths difficult.
However, many people with dyslexia have strong creative talents in the arts, design, computing and lateral thinking.
During a child's early school years, dyslexia may affect his self-esteem to such an extent that, until it is properly diagnosed and remedial teaching put in place, the child may refuse to read or write, appear 'stupid' to his peers, and generally find life very confusing and worrying.
Many books, videos and other learning materials have been produced to help the student who has dyslexia.
